Update on the wait

It hasn’t been confirmed yet, but the word out there is that the next batch of referrals will be for the period of May 26-30. This is pretty disappointing for those who are anxiously awaiting “the call”; especially folks who have a LID in the first few days of June. If it is true, what this means for us, and for all the waiting families, is that the process has slowed down considerably in the past couple of months. It has taken the CCAA 3 months and counting, just to refer one month of dossiers; namely those with a May LID. My heart goes out to everyone who has received this disappointing news and had their hopes set on a referral this week. Trust that it will happen and when it does, all of this will be worth every second of waiting. I believe that with all my heart.

The good news is that CCAA still continues to review dossiers and the latest news from their web site is that they have finished reviewing dossiers logged in through August 31. There is always a possibility that things will speed up again, they will catch up with the overload of dossiers they have apparently received and we will still have our daughter with us by the end of the year. We are holding fast to that hope, but still, in the back of our minds, preparing ourselves for a longer wait. It will happen in God’s time and not in ours, and when it does, we will rejoice and celebrate and welcome our Lily Kate with open arms, knowing she is the daughter we are meant to have. Please continue to keep us in your prayers and we will give you any news the minute we have it. We promise.

Were You Born Today?

Were you born today across the ocean deep and blue? Did someone wrap you warmly? Did they stop and gaze at you?

Did they look upon your almond eyes and touch your silken hair? Did they stop to kiss each tiny toe, hear your breath upon the air?

Did you hear a soft voice comforting, securely in her arms? The warmth of two souls bonding, Oh, the lure of newborn charms.

Were they charmed by every movement; every yawn and stretch and pout?
Did they celebrate with handshakes and good spirits all about? (Or were the tears mistaken, as they fell upon your face? Their eyes were wells of sorrow? Their heads hung in disgrace?

Did they tremble when they realized the thing that would be done? Did they mourn the new day coming, with the rising of the sun?)

Did they place you, oh so tenderly, in the place where you werefound? Were those blankets wrapped up tightly to deny the cold, hard ground?

Did she whisper words of comfort with a love that was so deep? Did she recognize the features of this one she could not keep?

Did you feel the night wind blowing as it carried in the morn? Did you hear your mother weeping on the day that you were born?

And here across the ocean a mother weeps for you. How long before she travels `cross that ocean, deep and blue?

How long before she gazes at those little dimpled hands? How long before she travels to that promised, distant land?

Her heart is filled with gladness. Her dreams are coming true. The secret thrill of motherhood, across that ocean deep and blue.

And she'll gaze upon your almond eyes and touch your silken hair. She'll stop and kiss each tiny toe….feel your breath upon the air.

And you'll hear a soft voice comforting; the worlds so insecure. Two fragile souls are bonding as they hold each other near.

She'll be charmed by every movement; every yawn and stretch and pout. And she'll celebrate with handshakes and good spirits all about.

And you'll hear the night wind blowing as she rocks you off to sleep. And she'll whisper words of comfort, with a love that is so deep.

.....And far across the ocean a mother weeps.....

Baby Clothes!

Okay, I finally got around to taking some pictures of the cute, girly stuff I am amassing for Lily Kate's wardrobe.

First, we have dresses! There will be many of these in her closet. Girls can't have enough in my opinion. Always to be worn with bows of course.

Next are a few adorable items that I got on sale at Boden. They have some of the sweetest things around. I have to contain myself when I go to their site.

I mentioned in an earlier post that I got a few things at the Baby Gap Outlet. Take a look at these, in particular, the yellow-flowered coat...how unbelievably cute is that? Even if she only wears it once it'll be worth it.

I also stopped in the Children's Place outlet and found this little number (also has a handband that matches!) It says Daisy Girl :)

And for the grand finale, the piece de resistance, an adorable pink, flowery swimsuit...can you stand that much cuteness?

This isn't everything, but just a sampling. Lotsa flowers, I know, but she'll have some stripes and solids too. She is going to be a little fashionista and will mix it up with style.

Can't wait to post those pictures.

I found an interesting article...

...here while perusing the China Adoption News site and thought it was a good, concise explanation of the adoption process in China. With all the questions that people ask, I am always looking for a good, simple way to explain a not-so-simple process.
