新年快乐 Happy New Year!

Last night, we celebrated Chinese New Year (or rather the Spring Festival , as it is called in China), with our good friends and neighbors, Derek and Marcia and their kids. They have two sons, and a daughter, Ava, who is from Yuncheng, China. We tried to get all the kids together for a photo, but as you can see below, it wasn't very successful.

Peter looks half asleep, LilyKate is hysterical, Ava isn't sure what to do (she started crying a few moments later), Eleanor is getting ready to scream and Ben, well Ben is the only one who came out looking good. Why is it always so hard to get a group of kids to smile simultaneously?

A little later, I tried to get some shots of just the girls, but they just weren't in the mood for pictures. This is the best one of them together. There was just too much excitement as the were boys running around on the other side of the room. It's getting harder and harder to get good shots of them together, especially since they can't sit still!

Eleanor manages a bored wave to her fans.

LilyKate just can't muster up the energy...it's hard work being this beautiful.

  3. I am really going to blog soon!! Anyway, the dumplings were delish! Ava had the leftovers yesterday. We definitely have to make more. Ben is smiling, but obviously white is not his color...well, it is his color, I think that is the problem!
    We had fun!

  4. Gong Xi Fa Cai to all of our neighbors - Chinese and otherwise! We celebrated the year of the ox with a party of family and friends. Lucy and I made treat bags for everyone that included the all important red envelope with $$ inside, chocolates wrapped as Chinese coins and a good luck charm. The folks at Asian Square know us by now and found Lucy the perfect dress for the occasion. All of our Chinese girls are beautiful!

  6. Just stopping by to wish you a Happy Chinese New Year.

The girls are getting so big and more beautiful with each passing day. I always enjoy looking at the pictures you post.

Okay, I LOVE both of the girls dresses, but I have to say...I've never seen one in the colors that LilyKate is wearing...I LOVE that yellow with pink. I may have to ask Zhou to pick up one for Hope for next year! :)

  7. Cheri: I got their dresses at Ladybug Corner...you know, the one close to the Cow and Bridge - right by the Victory? I loved that shop. It was small, but they had some of the cutest dresses. I think they have a website too!
