Today is LilyKate and Eleanor’s 3rd birthday!
Even though we missed some firsts when they were tiny babies, we have been blessed to celebrate all three birthdays with them, as well milestones like crawling, walking, and talking. Time is just racing by and I am trying desperately to take as many pictures as possible, and enjoy each and every moment with them, since I know they are precious.
We celebrated last Saturday with a swim party at the home of their godparents. The girls stayed in the pool for hours, ate cookie cake and ice cream sundaes, and opened lots of great presents. Family and good friends were there and we had a wonderful time.
On this day, I can’t help but reflect on their China mother, and what she might be feeling. To give birth to two healthy, beautiful baby girls, but to reach the heartbreaking decision to give them up - how unbelievably difficult that must have been. I know it was not a decision made lightly. They were just one day old when they were brought to the orphanage…so tiny and helpless. I can’t imagine not knowing them, not loving them and not seeing them every day. My heart aches for her. I wish I could let her know that they are safe, happy and loved.
They are such happy, wide-open, little people. They love to sing and dance. They make up silly songs and act goofy for each other and us. They giggle and laugh a lot. They love books and puzzles, Yo Gabba Gabba, princesses and lip gloss. They love swimming, and watch full-length animated movies. They know the alphabet, can count up to 20 (kind of :)) know their colors and shapes, can read a bunch of words, and so much more! They are amazing, beautiful, smart, and loving.
Happy Birthday to our sweet baby girls….we love you to the moon and back!
