day 195 - meeting kay bratt

I am part of a Mom's fellowship at a local church, and we are in the midst of a summer program, called Summerflies. In addition to reading Renee Swope's book, A Confident Heart, we have had a number of guest speakers.

Today, we were thrilled to have Kay Bratt as our speaker. Kay is an author, as well as a child advocate with An Orphan's Wish. Many of you in the China adoption community know Kay, mostly from her first book, Silent Tears, and several others she has written since that book was published, including Chasing China and the short story, The Bridge.

Kay shared stories and updates on some of the children from Silent Tears, as well as more information and anecdotes from her time spent in China. The main focus of her talk however, was on "Finding Your Sweet Spot"....discovering that place where our passion and talent meets a need. It was inspiring to hear Kay speak, and everyone there was touched by her words and moved by her passion for Chinese orphans. We are grateful for her taking time to come meet with us! Special thanks to my sweet friend, Andrea Sisler, for arranging to have Kay come...awesome!

Amy, Andrea, Susan and Shannan...all proud China Moms, with Kay Bratt (center)
