We are all super-excited about starting Kindergarten! We've been getting supplies and backpacks and clothes and talking about it for weeks. We've met teachers and some of our classmates and we are ready to go!

day 224 - Steve's Birthday

Tonight we celebrated my brother Steve's birthday with dinner at a local pizzeria. It was fun just being together , enjoying each other's company, as well as as some yummy pizza. Living near to family members and getting to share so many special moments with them is a blessing for sure.

Happy Birthday Steve! We love you!!

day 223 - grandpa's new golf cart

Grandpa and Grandma just got a new golf cart (well, new to them), and Grandpa stopped by this morning to take the girls for a test drive. It goes so much faster than the old one.....wheeeeeee!

Thanks for the ride Grandpa!

day 222 - kindergarten orientation

Today was Kindergarten Orientation for LilyKate and Eleanor (and Mommy!) We got to meet our awesome new teachers, see our new classroom, meet our classmates, and get a taste of what Kindergarten will be like!

There are twenty kids in the girls' class and a pretty equal number of boys and girls. After a short meeting in the cafeteria, we went to check out the classrooms and get acquainted. Then, while the parents filled out paperwork and went over supply lists and asked questions, the kids played games in the gym, sang songs in music, learned about the color wheel in art, and most exciting of all, rode the big yellow school bus.

Our girls won't be taking the bus, as we live just down the street from the school, and we have decided to walk as much as possible, or zip over on our golf cart some days, so this was a rare treat for them. Everyone we met and spoke with was warm and friendly, and I just know the girls will love going there every day. They didn't want to leave and were exclaiming over everything they saw.

Monday will be bittersweet for me, as I have LOVED being home with them these past four years, but I know they will be in caring, capable hands. Kindergarten here we come!

Some very creative names in their class :-)

day 219 - olympic fever

We definitely have the fever here in the Love house, especially me! I can't get enough and am tuning into everything from gymnastics, to beach volleyball, to track and field, and a whole lot of other stuff in between.

The men's gymnastics competition has featured some of the most exciting moments so far, with unlikely winners and unbelievable feats of strength and control. I loved watching the men's rings and pommel horse contests....wow! Can you say crazy strong? And how cool that a Brazilian athlete, Arthur Zanetti, won a gold medal, for the first time ever in men's gymnastics (beating out favored China), and the games will be held in Rio in 2016. What a hero he must be back home!

It drives me a little nuts sometimes that the coverage focuses so heavily on the US Team, even when they aren't doing well, but I love it all, from the back stories to the amazing moments of victory and triumph from people like Michael Phelps, Missy Franklin, Usain Bolt, and Kirani James. I am staying up way too late, but it's worth it...I am loving it all!

day 218 - auggie's birthday

Today we celebrated our nephew Austin's 3rd birthday. Austin had a bit of a rocky start in life...he was born 6 weeks early, and spent about that much time in the hospital before he could come home, so celebrating his 3rd birthday is extra-special.

He is such a sweet boy, with a shy smile, but he knows how to speak up when he doesn't like something (especially when Grandpa is teasing him.) We had cake, ice cream and presents, and loved ones to enjoy them with...everything a birthday should be!
